Greetings on behalf of the Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord! We are a single parish of four churches within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland united in a common mission to proclaim the glory of God, to celebrate the Sacraments, and to be of service to our community. Together we form a wonderful multi-generational parish full of loving and generous people, a welcoming atmosphere, and beautiful worship. We invite you to join us, whether you have been a lifelong Catholic, have been away for a while, are a Christian interested in exploring the historic Catholic faith, are searching for a place to heal and find peace, or are simply curious. Whoever you are or wherever you come from, you are wanted and welcomed!
The history of our parish runs deep. It begins with the establishment of a Catholic mission for the Penobscot people on Indian Island in the 1600s, continues on through the Canadian and European immigration boom of the 19th and 20th centuries in Old Town and Bradley, and in the last century has found more life and vibrancy through service to the community of Orono and the students at the University of Maine. Together, the churches of Holy Family in Old Town, St. Ann’s in Bradley, St. Ann’s of Penobscot Nation, and Our Lady of Wisdom Newman Center at the University of Maine in Orono are the inheritors of a rich spiritual and cultural tradition. We are united in our common mission, we share clergy and resources, and we often come together for prayer, worship, and community events, but each of our church communities is unique and has something special to offer.
At a time when it seems more and more people have less and less use for religion, it remains true that many are still searching for answers to life’s most urgent and ultimate questions. We believe that Jesus Christ is the answer to every pondering and pining of the human heart, and we invite you to join with us as we gather in His name, listen to His Word, celebrate His Sacraments, and make known His Father’s kingdom, all within the abundant fullness of our Catholic tradition. You will be welcomed as you are with the love of Jesus Christ – should you desire it, there is a place for you here!
If I can ever be of any help or assistance to you, please do not hesitate to reach out by phone, email, or by scheduling an appointment to meet with me. May God bless you and keep you!
Pax,
Fr. Kyle
